Thank god Skinema author Chris Nieratko was part of our time at the Book Expo America book fair. 'Twould have been a dismal day, but with all of our authors' general merrymaking, we might actually be excited for next year.

Made In The UK...in LA
Fred Segal Flair hosted a little fete for powerHouse author Janette Beckman's Made in the UK.
From Janette: "There were British DJs playing punky tunes and customers drinking shandy and Pimms while munching on crisps and Twiglets. Jeannine Braden the gorgeous owner of the store decorated the mannequins with safety pins through their noses and Union Jack bandanas to go with the Marc Jacobs handbags."

Gawker
Check out this Friday night action at the Arena! Gawker, you know, that snarky little gossip blog that people actually pay attention to, showed up at our Book Expo America after party, photographing what they thought were the best looking people in publishing—which, believe you me, if you knew this industry, was quite an assignment!
They made a selection of both men and women, and have created a “hot or not” contest. We are pleased to let you know that not one, not two, but three, yes three of the powerHouse posse made the cut: Adriana Hernandez, Daoud Tyler-Ameen, and Richard McNeace!

Book Expo and Beyond
At the Javits Center this past weekend for the Book Expo America convention, Vice publisher Gavin McInnes (pictured above) or rather Derrick Beckles of VBS.tv impersonating said publisher, was there to stir up the crowd and make the day MUCH more livelier than it otherwise would have been. He was promoting the second edition of Vice's Dos & Don'ts 2: 13 Years of Vice Magazine's Street Fashion Critiques. More happenings at the Book Expo to come...
